Allergy relief

If you do suffer from an allergy or know someone that does, then you know how frustrating it can be. Once the body’s reaction kicks in, things can start to go downhill pretty fast. This is why it is important that one familiarizes themselves with the methods through which they can have allergy relief. There is no silver bullet for allergy relief however. The approach one takes in addressing their allergy is dependent on the cause of the allergy and how the allergic reaction plays out.

One common thread through all allergies though is that there is medication one can take to suppress the effects of allergies and lower the hypersensitivity. As is common with many forms of conventional clinical medicine, allergy relief medication comes with side effects that can range from irritating drowsiness to more disconcerting ones like drop in libido. For this reason (and unless otherwise advised by your doctor), a preventive approach comprising natural treatment methods coupled with appropriate lifestyle change are often the best route one should take for allergy relief.

When it comes to pollen and dust related allergies for instance, you could opt to stay indoors. However, this is not a practical solution in the light of the realities of life that will require you to move from place to place every other time. What might make more practical sense is keeping the windows closed. This is especially important during seasons when the air has a high pollen concentration. Now closing the windows alone cannot possibly keep out all the dust and pollen. Therefore, you must regularly clean door mats and carpets. Wash your hair and face thoroughly especially if you have spent a considerable time outdoors. Do the same to the clothes you have worn. Ensure your furniture is kept as dust free as possible by using a clean damp cloth or using a HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner. Do not forget the bedroom as this is one place where you might be most vulnerable to an allergy attack if you are exposed to too much pollen and/or dust.

On the other hand, allergy relief for persons suffering from food allergies must go beyond simply avoiding the types of foods that trigger the reaction. Of course this is important. But remember that the foods causing the allergic reactions have certain key nutrients that might be critical to your growth and development. Take time to understand the kind of nutrients that are contained in the foods you have to avoid and then incorporate in your diet the foods that will provide the same nutrients. Food allergy relief can also be further enhanced by incorporating foods that will boost your immune system. That way, in the event that you do suffer from an allergic reaction, your body will be better equipped to recover faster.

Then there are animal allergies with cat allergies being one of the most common. The best allergy relief would come from controlling the places in the house where the cat (or any other pet for that matter) can go. Again, special mention here must be made of the bedroom; cats in the bedroom of a cat allergy sufferer can quickly complicate matters to no end.
